Rowan finishes their senior night strong, with a 6-3 win over Rider University this past Saturday. The Profs finished their last home game this season at Holleydell Ice Arena in Glassboro.
“I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot,” said assistant captain and defenseman Riley Rudolph. “I just love all these guys.”
The Profs pick up their 21st win of the season, and are on a six-game heater.
Although it would be Rowan who would go down a goal near the midway point in the first period, as Rider created a 2-on-1 chance and buried the goal.
However, Rowan was able to get their stick on the puck for deflections in front of the net all night, and took over in the second, as they scored five goals.
Senior assistant captain and winger Josh Bianchi, on his final home game at Hollydell, picked up three points on the night, two goals and one assist.
“It’s really special, especially with these group of guys,” said Bianchi. “It’s been a blessing, I don’t take it for granted.”
Bianchi would score off a deflection when sophomore defenseman Zander Robinson fired a shot from the blueline in the second period.
Bianchi scored his second goal of the night in the second period, finishing a rebound after deflecting another shot from Robinson at the blue line.
Multiple players collected two points for the Profs on the night. One of them is sophomore assistant captain and center Brian Bowman, and sophomore winger Max Findley. Both tallied a goal and an assist against Rider.
“We got a lot of young, active guys here who really want to win,” said senior captain Nick Thomas.
Rowan now looks to the ACC Premier Championship, where they'll head to Winston-Salem Fairgrounds, North Carolina. The Profs, who finished first in the conference, will take on the eight-seed University of Delaware in hopes of bringing home their second conference championship in only 4 years of being a member of the ACC.
“Definitely an improvement from last year,” said Thomas. “But we still got some work to do.”
