The Rowan Division II Ice Hockey team wins in an overtime thriller, 3-2, against Rider University on Saturday night at the Hollydell Ice Arena in Glassboro, New Jersey.
The Profs improve to the fourth win of the season overall (4-3-1-1), and are on a three-game win streak.
With almost just two minutes to go in the third, Rider knotted the game at two apiece, as Rowan would see action in overtime for the third time of the season.
And it wouldn’t be long before junior forward Max Findley would find the back of the net in three-on-three overtime.
“It was just a bunch of ups and downs tonight; the puck wouldn’t go in the net, and we finally got rewarded one, so it just felt amazing,” said Findley.
Using the space Findley had, he skated up the far side of the rink and put the puck away on his backhand.
“We’re a young team, so we have to keep building every game,” said Findley. “At practice we get better every single day.”
Earlier in the game, sophomore defenseman Ben Williams would get his second assist of the year after skating up the offensive zone and finding forward Riley Capecci in front.
Junior captain Brian Bowman found the back of the net first for Rowan earlier in the game during the first period, after a turnover in Rider’s defensive zone.
Rowan will stay at home for the time being, as the team will face the Wake Forest University D-II ice hockey team on Oct. 23.
