Everywhere you looked, fans were spotted in support of Rowan’s Men's D2 hockey team on
Saturday night. Hollydell Ice Arena saw a full crowd for the final game in Rowan’s rival
weekend against the Rider University Broncos. Coming off a win in the first game of the 2-game
series, the Profs returned to their home rink. The Profs crushed the Broncos the night before in a
4-1 victory at the Tsai Field House, Rider’s home rink.
Dunlop’s Bar and Grill were the primary host for the Prof’s fans, with many choosing to watch
the game from above. Also taking advantage of warmth from the heat, and the food and drinks
that were available to order.
The crowd that stayed on the bleacher were loud and proud, cheering for every big hit and every
big play. Alumni came out, as well as a lot of players’ friends and family.
Max Findley, a freshman left wing, said about the crowd: “The noise was good when it needed to
be. Got the guys going for sure.”
The crowd's energy kept the players locked in and gave them a renewed source of energy. The
rivalry between the Broncos and the Prof’s carried over from the ice to the stands, vying for the
loudest fan section. Sophomore defenseman Jon Chromcik also described the boisterous
environment.
“A lot more electric than last time,” Chromcik added, “it was an exciting atmosphere.”
Rowan’s next home game is December 7th against the Delaware Blue Hens, where they look to
have an even louder home crowd.
